The first tea plant was brought to Ceylon from China by the British in 1824, nevertheless the tea industry was not started until 1867, when it was established by James Taylor on the Loolecondera Estate, on a surface area of a mere 19 acres. Black tea is a typical product of the tea plantations of the island of Sri Lanka. Our organic Blackwood OP originates from the Bogawantalwa valley in the region of Dimbula on the west of the island. This fertile plantation, located at a height of 1000m to 1300m above sea level is known not only for the devotion of its workers, but above all for its high quality organic black tea. The unique traditional drying process helps preserve essential oils, thanks to which the tea offers an inimitable taste. The short black to reddish-brown, wiry-shaped leaves produce a copper-red infusion, which surprises everyone with its full flavour, accompanied by a delicately spicy aroma and very rich finish.
