Located on a mountain 4864 feet above sea level, Giddapahar is a short drive from Kurseong. The plantation is a small family owned estate, known as "Eagles Cliff". The tea from Giddapahar Estate is very delicate due to the lower temperatures here and also because the area itself is covered by mist for a good part of the year. Due to the temperature, the tea bushes from the estate produce a fine bouquet with great aromatic quality and a delicate floral smell. With a relatively small tea plantation area of 110 hectares, Giddapahar is known to produce some of the best Darjeeling teas in the entire region. The plantation at Giddapahar comprises of China, Clonal & Assam bushes including some of the oldest china tea bush varietals. The first flush black teas are extremely flavoury and aromatic. The quality peaks in the second flush with rich muscatel teas. Giddapahar also produces some selective batches of green teas in the month of July every year.
This tea offers very fresh, fruit and clean taste on the tongue. There is a bit of sweet woodsy notes that fade in and out on occasion as well. An experienced tongue can recognize a variety of nutty notes.
